Each category winner receives $5,000 USD if its own prize minimum is met by December 31. If no app qualifies, that prize is not awarded. Best Product is judged on merit, with no numerical floor.
01 / GROW
Most Connected Users
$5,000 USDWinner’s prize

Why it matters
Proves developers can build experiences compelling enough for consumers to connect their financial accounts.
02 / EARN TRUST
Most Assets Connected
$5,000 USDWinner’s prize
Prize minimum: $10M USD in qualifying assets by December 31. Paper accounts excluded.

Most Trade Flow
$5,000 USDWinner’s prize
Prize minimum: $1M USD in executed trade value by December 31.

PLAY FAIR. BUILD SOMETHING REAL.
The rules.
A level playing field. Friendly competition. Real impact.
Closes December 31, 2026 11:59 PM Pacific Time
01SnapTrade OAuth must be a meaningful part of the product.
02Apps must be publicly accessible to real users.
03Employees may submit multiple apps. Each app is judged independently and must meet its own category prize minimums. Metrics are not aggregated across apps submitted by the same person.
05Paper connections do not count toward competition metrics. Connected Users requires at least one real-money brokerage connection. Multi-Broker Users requires real-money connections at two or more distinct brokerages. Users with only paper connections are excluded from both user metrics. Paper assets are excluded from Connected Assets, and trades from paper accounts are excluded from Trade Flow.
06Duplicate accounts controlled by the same user do not count multiple times.
07Paying or directly incentivizing people purely to connect an account is not allowed.
08Misleading users or misrepresenting the product is not allowed.
09Trade Flow counts executed real-money trades placed through the app: stocks and ETFs at executed quantity × execution price; options at executed contracts × execution premium × the contract’s premium multiplier.
10Buys and sells both count positively. Count each executed leg once. Fees, unfilled orders, paper trades, and exercise or assignment events are excluded from Trade Flow.
11Artificial or repetitive trading designed primarily to inflate trade volume is excluded.
12SnapTrade may review metrics for abuse or gaming.
13Friends and family are allowed as legitimate early users.
14Competition metrics stop at 11:59 PM Pacific Time on December 31, 2026.
15Rewards: $5,000 USD for the winner of each category. Each floor applies only to its own category and must be met by the competition deadline: 500 connected users; $10 million USD in qualifying connected assets, excluding paper accounts; $1 million USD in executed trade value; or 100 users connected to at least two distinct brokerages. If no app meets a category’s floor, that prize is not awarded.
16Best Product has no numerical floor. It must be a publicly launched, working product with real users. The SnapTrade team judges usefulness, originality, and execution, and may withhold the prize if no product merits it.
17Rules should remain fixed once the competition begins except where clarification is needed to prevent abuse.
Dogfood everything.
While building, keep track of every confusing API, missing endpoint, unclear error message, OAuth issue, documentation gap, or workflow that forces you to ask someone internally for help.
If you hit friction, an external developer probably will too.
